The Great British Village Show
09/07/2007
Aquaculture- hydroponics’ onion grower, Gerald Treweek, joins Prince Charles, Alan Titchmarch and James Martin to celebrate ‘Great British Tradition’- The Village Show.
Gerald is currently staring in the BBC’s ‘The Great British Village Show’, scrutinizing the vegetables of some of the most accomplished vegetable growers – judging whether they have what it takes to become ‘National Champion’ for vegetable growing.
Gerald - who is currently trying to beat the world record for the largest onion ever grown with Aquaculture-hydroponics' help - is judging growers of pumpkins, marrows and leeks on how heavy their vegetables are. He is also judging carrot growers by how long they can grow their vegetables. Whereas, growers of runner beans, tomatoes and shallots are being judged on the quality of their vegetables.
Gerald says: “This is a great opportunity for me to use the publicity I get to highlight the benefits of hydroponics to growers - faster growth and heavier yield!'
Simon Spinks, Technical Director at Aquaculture-hydroponics, adds: This is fantastic for Gerald, and we’re proud to be helping him with his world record attempt.
‘The Great British Village Show’ features on BBC One on Sundays at 7.20pm.
