Aquazone Ozone Generator
‘Creates pathogen free and highly oxygenated nutrient solution’
If you’re fighting a losing battle with root diseases in your hydroponic system then you need this WMD in your arsenal. The Aquazone Ozone Generator supplies your nutrient solution with controlled amounts of Ozone.
This Ozone (O3) is a highly reactive oxidising agent that is toxic to most waterborne organisms and root pathogens (such as pythium). When programmed correctly the levels of O3 produced by the Aquazone is safe for plant roots but lethal to pathogens. All you need to do is connect the Aquazone to an air pump, attach an air stone to the outlet tubing and add it to the bottom of your nutrient reservoir. Ozone rich air is then bubbled throughout your nutrient solution.
- Increases Disolved Oxygen
As well as killing pathogens, the effect of bubbling ozone through the nutrient solution drastically increases the dissolved oxygen content of the solution. This increase in dissolved oxygen helps to increase root growth and nutrient uptake which improves growth rates.
One side effect of the powerful oxidising properties of ozone is that it oxides iron, manganese and sulphur in the nutrient solution. Once oxidised these nutrient become insoluble which means they become unavailable to plants. To prevent deficiencies occurring you must use the Ionic Balance Solution to top up your reservoir every 2-3 days. This adds the unavailable nutrients back into the solution prevent any nutritional problems.
Silicon tubing must also be used to connect the air stone in the tank to the Aquazone Ozone generator. Ozone will corrode normal air line tubing.
The adjustable setting on the Aquazone Ozone Generator makes it suitable for use with any tank size up to a maximum of 180L.
Please note: the ORP controller is not needed to control the output of ozone from the Aquazone as long as the correct settings are followed. The ORP controller is currently unavailable due to reliability issues but will be available by mid 2010.
